Though

Acrylic
resin for counter-tops is resistant to impact, staining, UV rays,
scratches and heat. According to American Counter-top Fabricators,
acrylic resin has the best stain resistance than any counter-top
surface sealant.
Polyester
resin on the other hand is more translucent, and less expensive than
acrylic resin but not U.V. Stable thus it is advisable not to use on
outdoor purposes. It also fades and becomes yellow overtime, is very
brittle and more susceptible to breakage and chipping.
